Sigfox cooperates with HOPERF to Build Low-cost, Low-power Solutions that will Benefit Billions of People

French company Sigfox, founded in 2009, is committed to establishing global cellular connections only for low-power devices in the IoT. Its infrastructure is completely independent of existing networks (such as telecommunications mobile networks). Sigfox is launching the first global IoT network that can listen to billions of objects broadcast data without the need to establish and maintain network connections. Providing a software-based communication solution, all the work and computational complexity is performed in the cloud rather than on the device. All this significantly reduces energy consumption and the cost of connected devices.

Sigfox wireless links use the license-free ISM radio frequency band. Frequencies vary according to national regulations, but 868MHz is widely used in Europe and 915MHz in the United States. The density of units in the Sigfox network (based on average distance) is about 30-50km in rural areas. In cities where there are often more obstacles and noise the distance may be reduced to between 3-10km. The overall Sigfox network topology is a scalable, high-capacity network with very low energy consumption while maintaining a simple and easy-to-deploy star cell based infrastructure.

On November 20-21, Sigfox Connect held a large-scale annual event in Singapore, aiming to connect global IoT solutions and manufacturers to discuss and exchange strategic business opportunities and find solutions to improve the quality and reliability of the IoT.

This new solution is composed of HOPERF's unique FSK chip CMT2189C and BPSK made of Sigfox's unique technology. It has the characteristics of low power consumption, low cost, one-way, etc., and the transmission distance can reach more than 5 kilometers. Mainly used in fields such as logistics positioning, emergency calls, and mass advertising.

In the future, Sigfox will lay out networks in 65 countries around the world, and billions of people will be able to enjoy this IoT solution at ultra-low cost. The network can cover almost all major strategic transportation hubs, including airports, ports and train stations, thus bringing great convenience to improve the management efficiency of logistics and supply chain departments.

CMT2189C is a low-power, 8-bit RISC core MCU with built-in OOK transmitter, suitable for low-cost wireless transmission applications in the ISM band 240–960MHz. The chip integrates 2k x 14b rewritable program space and a high-efficiency ultra-low-power RF transmitter, supports online debugging functions, 4 general-purpose IOs and low sleep power consumption.
